Help – Searching for an Existing Permit

Problem:Searching by company name results in No Match

Solution:Search tries to match the typed string exactly, so the more you type, the less likely you are to find a match. The best way to find the company name is to use the shortest possible search string that you KNOW will be in the name. Some rules of thumb:

• Drop any “The” or “A” at the beginning, use just the first word after that,
• Don’t type anything that appears after punctuation such as apostrophes (‘) or dashes (-).
• If a name uses just initials, try changing the spacing between the initials – e.g., add a space if no space didn’t work.
• Try alternate spellings if the name contains any punctuation – and/&, to/-,
